Seaport Village held an online contest. An e-blast was sent out asking it’s subscribers to send a picture of themselves in their favorite Seaport Village spot. The best picture won a VIP prize package for the Red Bull Air Races. The winners received covered seating on the second story balcony of Seaport Village that overlooks the bay. From there, they were able to sit in comfort all day with their friends as they watched the Red Bull planes race above. It was catered with their own private spread and Red Bull beverages, the package also included four free parking passes good for all day. Total value of the package was more than $600.
Great prize, right? Well, the winners were great too!! A woman named Kelly emailed a picture in. The picture is of her and her nephew Austin (who was visiting from Riverside). Before the picture was taken, they had just attended a Padres game and came on over to Seaport Village to have a burger and a cookie, watch the boats and wander the cobblestones. What caught my eye were their Padres shirts! I’m a huge Padres fan.

Austin was able to join Kelly for the Red Bull Air Races. And it was a treat to have them!
If you want to sign up for our e-blast, to be updated on events and special promotions, go to Seaport Village’s home page (scroll down) and enter your email into newsletter sign up.

Margarita’s Kitchen & Cantina has added Carnitas to their already scrumptious menu. After hearing again and again from customers, “Where are the carnitas?”. Margarita’s is delivering! I was called down for a personal taste test and I can attest, they are YUUUMY! For those of you who don’t know what Carnitas are… they are slow cooked pork, simmered for hours in spices, butter, brown sugar and chipotle peppers. Um, can you say yum? Margarita’s offers them in tacos or burritos. Why not have both?

That day of the year that everyone waits for…. Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day…. is here! You better believe I was in line, waiting for my free cone. Today my flavor of choice was Jamaican Me Crazy Sorbet. Yuuuuuumy! I snapped a few shots for those of you who could not join us today for the festivities!

Not only is this a fun and scrumptious event but it is also a fundraiser for a good cause! Seaport Village’s Ben & Jerry’s are donating 100% of the proceeds from their Free Cone Day to Mama’s Kitchen. While the world waits for a cure, Mama’s Kitchen, a non-profit charitable organization, delivers food and support to San Diegans affected by AIDS or other critical illnesses. A good cause, indeed.
